Investigation

Investigation

 1. Identify the problem
Internet has been controlling our world for the 10 years. Internet has been a way of life. It was evolutionary, and as it went through different stages more things were discovered, and how to make different websites, and different things to create on a computer. As this internet evolved there were things called Social Networks. A way for people to connect and communicate using the keyboard, no matter what part of the world they are. For example, Facebook or Gmail even Twitter. These sites have been very good for communicating as well as a hazard. Many people have been cyber bullied. Today cyber bullying is considered a crime.

 2. Write a design brief
These websites and pages, have know become somewhat of an addiction to children. Many children no longer have social lives; their whole life is based on the computer, and the social networks on the internet. I will basically do a presentation on how cyber bullying affects have caused many problems in life and one or two of those examples will be the people of who were led to death after it. I will make a small survey to try to see if anyone is addicted or not, I will give examples of how to prevent cyber bullying or how to help a friend that is being cyber bullied. Since I have most of them on Facebook I was thinking on challenging them to not be on Facebook for a whole week, and I will check if they have or have not.

 3.  Research 4 essential aspects of Internet Safety and Digital Citizenship:
          Cyber Bullying
-          As we know cyber bullying is somewhat a choice. You can simply prevent yourself from being put down by words by simply shutting down your technological device, and look on the bright side of life.
-          But in face Cyber bullying can affect your social life in real life as well. Mainly because after those typed words you have written, are taken to seriously by the victim, and so this affects her/him, and tries to run away from school, or avoid contact with the people that have been disrespectful on the internet.

          Cyber Safety and security online

-          There are many people that can play roles in helping with this online crime.
-          Parents play a big role, because victims of these sorts of situations do not have a lot of true friends, and is a little rejected buy the group of friends.
-          If parents notice signs of anxiety, depression. But very often these victims do self harm; cutting, and even committing suicide in one of those stronger situation. It of course later brings the low self esteem in a child.

          Search Strategies, Plagiarism, Website Credibility
1. Is there any evidence that the author of the Web information has some authority in the field about which she or he is providing information? What are the author's qualifications, credentials and connections to the subject?
2. With what organization or institution is the author associated? Is there a link to the sponsoring organization, a contact number and/or address or e-mail contact? A link to an association does not necessarily mean that the organization approved the content.
3. Does the author have publications in peer reviewed (scholarly and professional) publications, on the Web or in hard copy? (If an author does not have peer reviewed articles published, this does not mean that she or he does not have credible information, only that there has been no professional "test" of the author's authority on that subject.)
4. Are there clues that the author/s are biased? For example, is he/she selling or promoting a product? Is the author taking a personal stand on a social/political issue or is the author being objective ? Bias is not necessarily "bad," but the connections should be clear.
5. Is the Web information current? If there are a number of out-of-date links that do not work or old news, what does this say about the credibility of the information?
6. Does the information have a complete list of works cited, which reference credible, authoritative sources? If the information is not backed up with sources, what is the author's relationship to the subject to be able to give an "expert" opinion?
7. Can the subject you are researching be fully covered with WWW sources or should print sources provide balance? Much scholarly research is still only available in traditional print form. It is safe to assume that if you have limited background in a topic and have a limited amount of time to do your research, you may not be able to get the most representative material on the subject. So be wary of making unsupportable conclusions based on a narrow range of sources.
8. On what kind of Web site does the information appear? The site can give you clues about the credibility of the source.

4. Explore methods/strategies for teaching 6th grade students
There are different games, and activities we can do teach these children the importance of being protected from cyber bullying, or compelling/ contributing to cyber bullying. It will be further discussed, with my partner. I guess a prezi, a couple of videos, some hand on activities, and some sites with good advice would be a great way to explain the significance of cyber bullying.
5. Write your design specification
- Prezi presentation
- Games online (as a class)
- Hand on activities
-YouTube Videos
-Recommendation
6. How you are going to test you lesson?
My partner and I are going to test the lesson, by presenting it to our own 9th grade class. They are going to judge us and with their judgments we can keep, or change something’s in our presentation.

Lesson Plan
Our lesson plan is going to include a Prezi presentation. The Prezi will introduce cyber bullying, its definition and different forms of it. We will give examples of victims of cyber bullying, and explain why and how they had become victims of cyber bullying, and lack of internet safety etc. We will also give a brief definition of the Internet Safety needs, and what can happen when you are not secured on the internet. Then we will ask some question and get them motivated, and see their opinions on our topics. After seeing the feedback from them, we will continue by testing them on the test we will make, or the ones in the examples on the internet. After that we will do some hands on activities (not yet decided), just clearly to see that everyone has the right understanding of what they are supposed to do, something that will surely involve everyone. We will end the presentation with a couple of videos, and a small discussion to give them a break. Roughly that is our lesson plan not yet well enough thought through, but we will surely finish the detail in the “Create” section.
